September 2011 - Fifth Annual REALTORS Care® Fishing Derby
Beautiful weather, calm water, and many happy anglers made for a wonderful day at Selkirk Park on September 28, 2011 for the Fifth Annual REALTORS Care® Fishing Derby. Those participating had the chance to win the grand prize - a boat and trailer donated by LUND - and Sid Blum was our big winner this year. Each of our 'hidden lengths' winners went home with a big-screen TV and every registrant went home with a prize. We would like to thank everyone who participated, sponsored, donated prizes and gave their time to help raise over $9,400.00 for the MREA Shelter Foundation - you made this the best derby yet!
June 2011 - The Fifth Annual MREA President's Charity Golf Classic
With 110+ participants, Manitoba REALTORS® and colleagues helped to raise approximately $14,000 for the MREA Shelter Foundation at the Fifth Annual MREA President's Charity Golf Classic held June 28, 2011. "I am constantly overwhelmed by the ability of a relatively small association to raise the amount of funds for our Shelter Foundation that we are able to do on a consistent basis; it is a testament to Manitoba REALTORS®' commitment to quality of life and to community" said MREA President Lorne Weiss. May 2011 - Mass Synergy MS Walk Team
Yes, it snowed on participants on May 1, 2011, but as you can see, nothing stopped the Mass Synergy MS Walk Team! Along with team members from Goodfellow & Goodfellow R.E. Ltd., everyone enjoyed the snow and the opportunity to take part in fundraising for continued research to find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis. "We raised $29,695.00 and will not stop until we end MS!" said Lori Lind from Goodfellow and Goodfellow R. E. Ltd.
April 2011 - Manitoba REALTORS® Serve Up Easter Dinner At Siloam Mission
For the sixth consecutive year, Manitoba REALTORS® showed their generous natures by turning out by the dozens for the Manitoba Real Estate Association’s Siloam Mission Easter Dinner on Good Friday, April 23, 2011. Over 85 volunteers arrived to serve up a hot meal to Winnipeg’s less fortunate. Roberta Weiss, Chair of the MREA Shelter Foundation said, “When asked to help, Manitoba REALTORS® don’t hold back. The response for volunteers this year was overwhelming and because of such great turnout, the day was a huge success for everyone.” Said Siloam Mission Executive Director Floyd Perras, “We’re always excited when local businesses partner with Siloam to make their city a better place, but we are especially grateful to the Manitoba Real Estate Association for serving up Easter dinner for the sixth year in a row. That kind of commitment is rare and cherished by Siloam.” The Siloam Mission Easter Dinner is a REALTORS Care® initiative which began in 2006. All the food that is prepared and served is collected by REALTORS® working under the REALTORS Care® initiative specifically for this event.
March 2011 - Second Annual Gimme Shelter Fundraiser
The WinnipegREALTORS® second annual Gimme Shelter fundraiser generated over $50,000 in support of the Manitoba Real Estate Association Shelter Foundation. Roberta Weiss, chair of the MREA Shelter Foundation says "Gimme Shelter provided a wonderful opportunity for REALTORS® to socialize, be entertained by other REALTORS® and associates and to contribute generously to the Shelter Foundation. All monies raised stay in Manitoba and are used to support shelter-related charities and improve the quality of life for Manitobans."
Fishing Derby raises $8,400-plus for MREA Shelter Foundation
The Fourth Annual REALTORS Care® Fishing Derby took place this year in Selkirk Park with the biggest turn-out in the history of the tournament. Over 100 REALTORS®, friends, family, and associates came out to help make this the most successful derby ever. Everyone was treated to sunny September weather, a day spent on the Red River, and some friendly competition. $8,405 was raised this year in support of the MREA Shelter Foundation, making this the largest amount in the history of the tournament.
Those participating had the chance to win the grand prize - a LUND boat donated by A+ Financial – and our lucky winner was Don Friesen. Winners in other categories included: Jason Hamilton for biggest catfish at 96.5 cm; Gerry Culleton for biggest walleye at 44 cm; Len Westwood for biggest bass at 49 cm. Each of our hidden lengths winners went home with a big-screen TV and those lucky participants were: Boris Kolisnyk for catfish; Stephen Yuffe for walleye; and Lance Cherry for bass.

MREA Fourth Annual Charity Golf Classic
Manitoba REALTORS® and colleagues golfed their way to a record-breaking $14,000-plus towards the MREA Shelter Foundation in the Fourth Annual MREA President’s Charity Golf Classic on July 27, 2010. With over a hundred golfers, participants raised the largest amount in the history of the tournament. “Great camaraderie, great golf and a great cause,” said MREA President Tom Fulton. REALTOR® Bob Goodfellow, an avid life-long angler, has found a way to share his passion while helping youth who are at risk in the community. ‘Reel Solutions for Youth’ is a program co-founded by Goodfellow, which is now available to children province-wide. Twenty-five students from Centennial School in Lac du Bonnet were treated to a four hour fishing event in June of 2010. Children received instruction on proper fishing techniques and were rewarded at the end of the day with their own fishing gear – made possible by Cabela’s Outfitters in Winnipeg and through a grant by the Fisheries Enhancement Fund. April 2010 - The Winnipeg Real Estate News Power Play Goal promotion raised $2,300 this year, which will be used to purchase Olympic-class sledges for three fortunate recipients. At Manitoba Moose home games, $100 was donated by the WREN to the Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation when a power play goal was scored by the American Hockey League Team. Ian Dmytriw was the first to be presented with a sledge at a Manitoba Moose game.
April 2010 - For the fifth consecutive year, the Manitoba Real Estate Association and REALTORS Care® organized over 40 REALTOR® Members, friends and family to be at Siloam Mission, a homeless shelter in the core of downtown Winnipeg. The team of volunteers served up over 500 hot holiday meals to Winnipeg's less fortunate on Good Friday. Thank you volunteers for your continued support and those who gathered the food and decorations for the event!
March 2010 - Winnipeg - REALTORS® Association hosted the amazing inaugural “Gimme Shelter” fundraising event at Canad Inns Polo Park on St. Patrick’s Day. It was a rockin’ night of REALTOR® music, prizes and fun which raised over $26,000 for the MREA Shelter Foundation. Many thanks to the WRA for creating and running such a successful event and to the sponsors who supplied fabulous prizes and financial support.
REALTORS Care® Fishing Derby
September 23rd, 2009, Selkirk Park
The Third Annual REALTORS Care® Fishing Derby took place on September 23rd, 2009 at Selkirk Park and raised $5000. It was a whole day of fun out on the water and then BBQ and prizes inside. The day was in support of the MREA Shelter Foundation and we thank all who participated, sponsored and showed their support!

The WinnipegREALTORS® Association recently presented a cheque to the Friends of the Canadian Museum of Human Rights for $216, 271.00. The funds were raised through WinnipegREALTORS® members and their ongoing campaign to promote the national museum.
MREA Third Annual Charity Golf Classic

June 13, 2009 - WinnipegREALTORS® participated in Take Pride Winnipeg’s “Brush Up Winnipeg” and painted / planted flowers at a home in North Kildonan.
The Mass Synergy Team from Goodfellow & Goodfellow Real Estate. Money raised by the Manitoba Lotteries MS Walk supports promising research into the cause and cure to finally end MS. It also funds the many programs and services the Multiple Sclerosis Society offers Manitobans living with MS.
Charity Garage Sale
May, 2009 – The Royal LePage office at 1877 Henderson Hwy raised over $11 500 in the National Charity Garage Sale held to benefit the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation.
September, 2008 - The Manitoba Real Estate Association Second Annual Fishing Tournament took place on September 10, 2008. $3828.23 was raised in support of the MREA Shelter Foundation, which raises funds for shelter-related causes throughout Manitoba.
July, 2008 - The Manitoba Real Estate Association Second Annual Charity Golf Classic took place on July 29, 2008. $13 427 was raised in support of the MREA Shelter Foundation thanks to all our generous sponsors, supporters and participants.
August, 2008 - High a top the 18 storey Royal Bank building in Winnipeg, Susan Belanger repelled down its side to raise funds for Easter Seals. One of Susan's goals is to teach her children that anything is possible and every fear can be conquered. She is also close to three families who benefited from Easter Seals funds.
Wes Schollenberg, Managing Partner for Avison Young Manitoba, is shown here with little Madison from Gilbert Plains, Manitoba and her new specialized bicycle. Madison is confined to a wheelchair, but has found new freedom with her family on this specialized bike. Wes raised over $4,000 dollars by traveling through the hills of SW. Manitoba and N. Dakota in 32-degree heat in August. Thank you to everyone who sponsored Wes!
The 2008 Rick Hansen Wheels in Motion event took place on Sunday, June 8th. The event was a 2K walk/wheel in addition to the Wheelchair Challenge. The event raised funds to help improve the quality of life of people living with spinal cord injury, while providing a better understanding of what it is like to navigate through life in a wheelchair. Thank you to all that participated.

For the third consecutive year the REALTORS Care® Committee served Easter meals on Good Friday, March 21, 2008, to the patrons of Siloam Mission in Winnipeg.
The Royal Roar Comedy Fundraiser - The Royal LePage offices of Winnipeg would like to thank everyone who supported this event held on October 4, 2007 and raised $8,000. for the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation. All funds were donated to Osborne House - a safe place for woman and children.

FISHING TOURNAMENT - A favorite REALTOR®
pastime was resurrected on September 19/07 in Selkirk Park for a day of fishing on the river. All proceeds raised from the tournament went to
the MREA Shelter Foundation. Major prizes were awarded based on hidden weights, so anyone could win!
The Road to Rehab cyclists took up the challenge
to raise funds for Tyson who needed a special
wheelchair and seating system to meet his mobility,
circulation and breathing needs. They cycled in the
Boissevain area on August 10th and 11th, 2007. Thanks to Wes and his supporters, Tyson will be starting school with a new $6500.00 chair.
The Manitoba Real Estate Association (MREA) hosted its inaugural Charity Golf Classic at Glendale Golf and Country Club and raised $11,600 for a new MREA Shelter Foundation dedicated to affordable housing and homelessness initiatives.

The Manitoba Real Estate Association Shelter Foundation and REALTORS Care®, stepped up to the plate on Good Friday, dishing out a magnificent feast for those less fortunate of our "City" who are living out on the streets; out homeless members of society.
Siloam Mission's Board of Directors and the Manitoba Real Estate Association held a Gala dinner November 3, 2006 to celebrate 5 years of John Mohan's leadership. John is responsible for an average growth rate of 450% per year and the poor and the homeless are glad he has.
At the ROYAL LePAGE March 2nd awards evening they gave a cheque to Osborne House for $11,232.00 which represented moneys raised last year from a combo of events Fashion Show and amounts that individuals had deducted off every deal towards our Shelter foundation).
Re/Max sales associates in Winnipeg raised $150,000 in 2007, bringing their total donations since 1992 to over $1,000,000. These funds are raised through the "Miracle Home" donations, an annual golf tournament and many individual fundraising events. The monies raised go directly to the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba toward pediatric research and much needed equipment for the Winnipeg Children's Hospital.
The Winnipeg Real Estate Board established the Citizens Hall of Fame in Assiniboine Park in 1986. Some 30 sculptures honour Winnipegers from virtually every walk of life who have made extraordinary contributions to their community. Those honoured include politicians, businessmen, artists, educators and ground-breaking research scientists.
The WREB is a major sponsor of the Winnipeg in Bloom, Flower Power Contest and presents “The Curb Appeal Award”. The Winnipeg in Bloom contest is open to homeowners, schools, churches, residential complexes, business and community groups. The contest encourages friendly neighbourhood competition between property owners in their appropriate categories.

The Weekend to End Breast Cancer. June 9 11/06. Over 1300 people of all ages participated in a 60 km. walk through the streets of the city and together raised a record setting amount of $3.2 million.

out to a low-income family and making their wish for home
ownership a reality.
Siloam Mission, a homeless shelter in the core of downtown Winnipeg, was hopping Good Friday with over 30 REALTOR® Members, staff and family members of the Manitoba Real Estate Association (MREA). They served up over 500 meals to Winnipeg's less fortunate.

REALTORS Care® teamed up with Siloam Mission for a second successful event. Our Summer Sizzler took place on Saturday June 24th, REALTORS Care® volunteers were in attendance to serve up a traditional summer BBQ.
